The company began by producing boring and grinding machines and took flight as the door to garden equipment opened. While a tribute is paid to the past, a promising future of Simplicity awaits.

Simplicity Year 1922

Simplicity Manufacturing Inc

William (Bill) J. Neiderkorn founded the Simplicity Manufacturing Company in Port Washington, WI. The company leased a three-story building with railroad siding on the west side of town. This was the site on which Bill Neiderkorn and Simplicity were to make industrial history.

Simplicity Year 1936

Garden Tractors

After several years focusing on boring machinery engines, Simplicity switched its focus to manufacturing garden tractors. Starting with the "Model A" garden tractor, this transition set the stage for the future of the manufacturing company.

Simplicity Year 1957

Wonder Boy

The 3.6 horsepower Wonder Boy was the first dedicated riding mower from the company. The introduction of this model opened up many opportunities for Simplicity in the lawn & garden industry. Including the first development of the Free Floating™ Mower Deck.

Simplicity Year 1964

Broadmoor™

The beginning of a tractor legacy was formed with the release of a smaller lawn tractor, the 6 horsepower Broadmoor. The Broadmoor has now been a recurring product of Simplicity's for 57 years.

Simplicity Year 1990

Zero Turn Mowers

The first true Simplicity zero turn mowers were introduced when the brand joined forces with Middlesworth Engineering, producing commercial riding mowers featuring a patented hydro steer design and exclusive steering wheel control.

Simplicity Year 2004

Briggs & Stratton® Acquires Simplicity

Briggs & Stratton purchased Simplicity Manufacturing, beginning a new and exciting future for the Simplicity brand.

Simplicity Year 2013

Suspension

The release of the Prestige™ garden tractor introduced suspension to the Simplicity product line for the first time. This development enhanced the premium mowing experience the brand is known for.

What's Next for Simplicity

With a nod to the past and a glimpse into the future, the electrification of Simplicity will be all about making the experience easier than it's ever been. This comes with new opportunities for convenience, new features and smarter products. Sticking to the roots of the company and holding on to what makes Simplicity original, while also pushing the boundaries of what's possible.
